  BASS MODULATORS INTERVIEW

Bass Modulators is a coöperation that started in 2007 between Roland Evers and Rick Buijtenhek. Both born in 1984 and living in “Haarlem” the Netherlands.

Two friends since high school, both with a great passion for music, started their musical career at the age of 17. Rick produced mostly trance and hardtrance, while Roland developed a passion for the turntables. Rick, still looking for his true believe and Roland, playing a wide variety of electronic music styles at the local club as a dj, soon realized that hardstyle is their religion and is the best way to get their heart to beat faster.

1. What's your Name:
Roland Evers & Rick Buijtenhek

2. What's your artist name:
Bass Modulators

3.How did you choose your artist name?
We were so desperately trying to come up with a good artist name, that we even checked all the names on our equipment. “Modulation” was a knob on our Midi-keyboard, adding “Bass” to it did the job.

4.Where did you grow up?
Haarlem, Netherlands

5. Where do you live now?
Still Haarlem. We are direct neighbours in the same building. We also got our studios over here.

6. Do you have a girl?
We both have Girlfriends

7. What's your favourite holiday country:

Rick: Brasil
Roland: Dominican Republic

8.What’s the title of your latest release, and on which label was it released?
Bass Modulators – NRGizer / Our World on our own label DJU Orange

9.Can we expect more productions from you soon, if so.. when?
Of course, We have a lot in progress at the moment. Remixes, solo and versus projects are on a tight schedule for 2010. As it looks now “Sequel” will be our first upcoming release with a very nice remix on the B side within like 2 months

10Noisecontrollers & Zany – Diavol

11. What inspired you to become a DJ?
Roland: When i first saw PAVO play at a local party in Haarlem called Oxygene, I was sold. The way he mixed, scratched, played with records was, and still is, amazing! Fortunately for me he worked in that time in a local recordshop in my home town, so I came there often and learned some of his skills. I’m not PAVO, but I can manage on the stage and still loving it every gig!

Rick: I was always inspired by anything related to dance music. It started off with producing our own records. After we had our first release at DJU black we we’re asked to play at the Empire New York in Hengelo but I didn’t have any experience at all with DJ’ing. Luckily Roland already had a few years of experience and had a set of turntables at home. So the same day he gave me a short workshop and the day after we had to spin at the club. So I was already able to show my first learned skills to a real audience. After that I got really hooked to the DJ stuff and besides Producing it became my biggest passion.

12. What’s your biggest love next to music?

Rick: I got a lot of things I like. A few of them are: Graphic Design, Party my ass off, Games, and of course my girlfriend.

Roland: Hmm, we have alot in common then, Gaming is my speciality, as well as partying our ass off on a weekly basis. But besides that I like Politics and a healthy discussion about it ;).

13. Which record is your all-time favourite?
R
ick: “the Pitcher – Serenity”
Roland: “Showtek – Seid Ihr Bereid”

14. What do you spend most of your money on each month?
Rick: Drinks and Clubbing! That’s if we don’t have a gig our self.
Roland: My studio and the above ;)

15.What's your favourite Club:
Matrixx Nijmegen

16. What's your favourite Party:
Defqon 1

17. Who's your favourite dj:
We will always keep respect for the skills of the real turntable master Pavo. The things he can do with vinyl are insane.

Michel Pollen. The man behind Pitcher and Dozer

Rick: Living on the edge
Roland: Buurman.. Wat doet u nu?!?!!

20. What's your favourite internet site aside of DJBOOKING.NL:
www.bassmodulators.nl offcourse :D
